Dear Jamtse Family and Friends,
It has been a difficult and often dark winter, but now as the days lengthen we can feel the lightness of spring and the change that is just ahead. In many nature traditions the Spring is the time of the healer, a time for gratitude and a time to remember what has true heart and meaning in our lives.
We here at Jamtse want to share our gratitude with all of you and we invite you to join with us in a celebration of Spring and it's endless possibilities. We will be hosting an online weekend March 20th & 21st with Jamtse teachers from around the world.
The weekend will be done on a donation basis, and in coordination with the Tibet fund, all profit will go to the Tibetan government in exile to support Tibetan children. The Jamtse Sponsorship Project traditionally supports the educational needs of Tibetan children, but this year because of the special challenges of these times, we have also reached out to support the basic needs of these exiled children, including food, clothing and shelter. The profit from this weekend will go towards those basic needs.
We look forward to seeing you in our virtual circle.
Love Biff

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Class: Gently Hatha Class
Suits all levels of practice and ending with a sequence of soft restorative/yin poses. This class will be taught outside live from a park in Italy so that students can join live as well.
Class: Introduction to the weekend and Gentle Yin Practice
Biff will welcome participants to the weekend and lead us in a quiet Yin Yoga practice.
Class: Strala Yoga
In this session we are practicing how to be at ease and in harmony with our body. We experience how to move in yin qualities incorporating softness, ease and acceptance. With openness for the whole process and our whole self we tap into our mind as well as our body and are reminded to connect with ourselves.
Class: Enjoy Being (in your body)
Gentle movement, playing with yoga poses and time for stillness.
Class: The Journey of the Storyteller
In this workshop Biff will discuss the place story and storytelling can hold in our life and practice. He will invite you to relax and listen to the some stories from ancient storytelling traditions.
Class: Awaken Your Heart
Mantra has the power to transform our state of mind from negative to joyful, to heal physically and emotionally as well as awakening our consciousness to higher planes of awareness. It is a simple beautiful process, an invitation, exploration of the intimate relationship between your voice, heart, prayer and Divinity.
Class: Dragon Dance and Yin Yoga Masterclass
Dragon dances, initially created by Suzee Grilley, are inspired by ancient practices of Qi Gong mixed with dance and vinyasa yoga. They are very dynamic form of practice that help to circulate the energy. This special Dragon Dance, designed by Cécile, is aimed at awakening the energy after the winter time. It will be followed by a sweet Yin Yoga practice to ground us back in the earth and be fully ready for the spring renewal
Class: Of Sound Body - Yin Yoga and Deep Listening
As our world and relationships increasingly call for deeper listening, how do we actually teach or cultivate the skill of listening? How does this intersect with the listening to our bodies we practice within Yin Yoga? This workshop is a nod to these questions, and will begin with simple vocal toning and listening based on ancient Indian Ragas to access direct felt and created sound. We will explore sound in postures, tracking how this listening and toning amplify the Yin postures. From sound creation we will slowly move into more subtle forms of deep listening as we journey with sound as meditation. Here the second half of this workshop will conclude with an extensive sound meditation incorporating acoustic instruments from around the world.
Class: A Yin Yoga Journey
We'll finish the weekend with a gentle Yin Yoga practice with live music and poetry.

TEACHER BIO's
Biff Mithoefer
Biff Mithoefer Teaches Yin Yoga workshops and teacher trainings throughout the U.S. and Internationally. He has studied shamanism with teachers of the Shapibo tradition of Eastern Peru, and is a student of cross-cultural shamanism, as taught by Angeles Arrien. He is the author of The Yin Yoga Kit, and co-author of The Therapeutic Yoga Kit. Biff is a founder and director of the Jamtse Sponsorship Project, for the support of Tibetan refuge children. He lives with his family in Dorset, Vermont. Julia Kupke understands herself as a seeker for clarity, freedom and peace within her own being. She created her professional work around this path and works as a guide for yoga (Strala & Yin), meditation and mindfulness practices. Julia shares her experiences and provides access to yoga, meditation and inner work through workshops, retreats and trainings. Regarding Yoga she shares the practice of Strala and Yin Yoga, as they reflect her philosophy of ease, softness and acceptance in a deep practice, that enables a continuous journey without endpoints. Her qualifications include more than 1.000h of international trainings. She was trained in Strala Yoga with 600h+ trainings in Amsterdam, New York and Berlin, to be able to transfer the practice and philosophy in a deep and sustainable way. Her ongoing teacher for Yin Yoga and Daoism is Biff Mithoefer, at the Jamtse School of Yin Yoga Flora Fink Flora sees herself as a lucky lover of people and poetry. Following her enthusiasm, she studied (mostly Scandinavian) literature and languages – as well as body and soul text(ure)s. For 20 years now, she experimented with almost any style of yoga, took teacher trainings in Jivamukti Yoga, Unnata (Aerial) Yoga, Pre- and Post-Pregnancy Yoga and, of course, Yin Yoga. For many years, she learned from Dr. Patrick Broome (Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga), taught at his studios in Munich and in his teacher trainings. She feels fortunate to learn Yin from the best, Biff, and to spend at least some weeks every year with her teacher-and-friend, assisting in his trainings. Every day, she’s deepening her studies in Yoga and Ayurveda, practicing and teaching and coaching and reading and writing – and enjoying all aspects of healing the self and others with these ancient traditions and their modern translations. Alessandra Tisato Alessandra was born as a photographer, always interested in the body and its language. Her passion for outdoor sports, such as climbing and cycling almost naturally brings her closer to the practice of yoga, initially for its physical benefits, then developing an as yet unexplored interest in the spiritual aspects of this wonderful discipline. The practice of Yoga becomes a new point of departure and exploration. Through the work of teachers such as Lesley Kaminoff, Amy Matthews and Bo Forbes, her interest in the link between Yoga, anatomy and neuroscience grows. The adaptability of the practice to the student, the respect for anatomy and the specific personal history of each one, the openness to listening and experimentation, the idea of being just a means to allow the student to get in touch with his deepest self, they are all key modalities of his work aimed at re-discovering the innate integration between the mind and body of everyone. Marco Migliavacca Marco was born in Milan in 1976. In Milan he studied art at the Brera Academy and again here, subsequently, he worked in publishing and advertising. He spends several years in Lisbon before moving to Barcelona where, in 2005, he approaches the practice of yoga; an encounter that immediately turns into a profound and passionate daily dialogue. After four years, in 2009, he finished his first training course at Mandiram Yoga Dinamico and returned to live in Milan, where he began sharing yoga as he knew it through his teachers: a-dogmatic, equitable and for the benefit of all. |
